Well, the heavy question facing the 35th General Assembly come on Wednesday afternoon. From the sound of it, RC made quite a speech during deliberation on the recommendations of the Committee on Federal Vision. I was drawn in by his passionate plea for the gospel and in particular justification by faith — “the doctrine by which the church stands or falls.”

One of my favorite RC stories from seminary days is not about RC but his wife, Vesta. I worked as an intern at the church the Sprouls attended, and Vesta regularly signed the pewpad, “me and my RC.” Oftentimes it’s not the public persona who endears us but the ones who are behind the persona.
