In the spring Kansas State University released the results (via an info graphic) showing the distribution of the Seven Deadly Sins across the United States. Wired picked up the story from which these graphics come and which was first picked up by Las Vegas Sun.

Sloth
Expenditures on art, entertainment, and recreation compared with employment.

Gluttony
Number of fast-food restaurants per capita.

Lust
Number of STD cases reported per capita.

Can you tell why this is bad science or at least why these info graphics are flawed? Sloth is defined by “expenditures of art, entertainment, and recreation compared with employment.” What do these definitions say about the condition of the heart or the inclination of affection?
