Backward Mutters

David Koyzis at Evangel reminded me that the traditional psalm for Ascension Day is Psalm 47. At GPC we’ve sung this psalm to this tune even. However, we’ve used the Psalter Hymnal‘s version. If my memory serves correct, I believe I was told that the lyrics were written by Calvin himself even as Psalm 46 (the basis of “A Mighty Fortress”) was written by Luther. I think Bourgeois’ tune could be sung in a round which would make the tune be joyful (squared).
